Four simple can-shaped bells hang from a horizontal cross made of thick twigs. The twigs are neatly bound together with wire with an 'antique copper finish, and the bells hang from them on black cord that has been neatly wound around the end of each twig. From the intersection of the cross hangs a drum-shaped piece of driftwood, also on black cord, and below that a small Tree of Life charm from which hangs a dried leaf. The leaf is intended to catch the wind, causing the driftwood to bang against the bells. The hanger for the windchime is made of matching black cord and wire and is decorated with three small glass beads whose green color echoes the leaf. The black cord is left untrimmed throughout.
When hanging this windchime outdoors, find a spot that won't be exposed directly to the elements, such as under an eave.
About our bells and windchimes: Each is handmade in our studio in Garden Grove, California. When we make them we try to bring together a variety of readymade ornaments, raw materials, and natural objects in a way that is organic and entirely human. We hope you enjoy them and all their imperfections, which we think gives them a casual and rustic character.
We make these bells without a specific use in mind; they're made to be used as you see fit - hung on doors or next to windows for protection, to clear negative energies around your altar, or as a useful tool in your witchcraft.
