A polished cabochon of natural moonstone is given an artistic setting of square copper wire arranged in graceful curves and spirals. The setting is designed to let the natural beauty of the round cabochon show through as much as possible while still holding the stone securely. The copper wire is also used to form a fanciful bail that is integral with and complementary to the setting.
About Moonstone: Moonstone is a gemstone with a pearly sheen called 'adularescence' that occurs when light entering the stone and refracts in scattering patterns off its thin inner structural layers. It is this property that led the ancient Romans to believe the stone was formed from drops of moonlight. Moonstone has traditionally been considered sacred by many cultures such as India and is today associated by many with love, energy, peace, feminine power, and intuition.
About Copper: Please note that copper wire naturally darkens over time although with care and cleaning it can be kept bright and shiny. Also, when worn directly against skin, copper can react with your sweat to form a green layer of copper carbonate. This chemical reaction is not harmful, but if it bothers you, we recommend only wearing the pendant on top of clothing.
