The entire face of this handsome Seal of Solomon pendant is intricately detailed giving it a rich texture that is accentuated by an oxidized finish.
The central focus is a Star of David which holds a yet smaller Star of David within a circle. Encircling the double Star are the symbols of the Zodiac, and framing those are a round border containing many symbols, letters and various writings. All of the details are in subtle relief, raised above a darkened, recessed background.
The reverse side of the pendant has a finely hammered finish.
The original Seal of Solomon upon which this pendant is based is the signet ring worn by the Israelite King Solomon. According to legend, it gave him the power to command the supernatural and also the ability to speak with animals. Eventually, because of Solomon's wisdom, the seal came to be seen as an amulet or talisman, and was used in medieval magic and Renaissance magic, occultism, and alchemy.
