This piece started as a slice of amethyst stalactite in a triangle shape, which I then built copper around it slowly through electroforming, letting the metal grow and hug the stone instead of forcing it into place.
The bail is a simple piece of copper wire with small loops at the ends—formed right into the piece during the process so everything feels like it belongs together. The base underneath the copper was hand-sculpted in polymer clay first, giving the metal something organic to grow over. Afterward, I oxidized the copper to bring out all that texture and depth, then polished it back so the highlights catch the light.
One side shows more of the crystal face—sparkly, open, and full of those tiny amethyst points. The other side reveals more of the natural patterning inside the stone, with those beautiful concentric formations. I tend to think of the crystal-heavy side as the “front,” but honestly, it’s completely reversible depending on your mood.
About the stone and metal
Amethyst is often connected with calm, intuition, and protection. It’s one of those stones people reach for when they want a little quiet in their mind or a sense of grounding that isn’t heavy.
Copper, on the other hand, is all about movement and flow—energy, conductivity, warmth. It’s been used for centuries not just structurally, but symbolically as a bridge or connector.
Together, they balance each other out in a really natural way:
the amethyst settles and centers, while the copper keeps things moving and alive. It’s a quiet kind of harmony—still, but not stagnant.
Each stalactite slice is unique, and this one has its own little landscape inside it. I just helped frame it.
