Each of these charms holds a small double-terminated / pointed Herkimer 'diamond', a small transparent quartz crystal, delicately wrapped in round copper wire in a design that holds the two points to the left and to the right. The wire-wrapping also features two tiny spirals placed according the the gem's natural facets, as well as a double-wire integral bail.
These particular 'Herks' are very transparent with little coloring so that you can actually see through them to the copper wire on the other side.
These charms are 'reversible' and can be worn either way; there is no 'back' side.
About Herkimer 'diamonds': These hexagonal minerals are found in Herkimer, New York and are estimated to be 500 million years old. They are a type of quartz that is transparent and can range in color from transparent to smoky black. They are hexagonal in section and by nature have 18 facets. They are also are doubly-terminated with two natural points, and are very hard and scratch-resistant.
