The face of this handsome ring is the well-known Jerusalem Cross, also known as the Five-Fold Cross.
At its center is a large 'cross potent', a cross with four equal arms, each with a crossbar at its end. In each of the four quadrants created by the cross potent is a small Greek cross or 'crosslet', which also has four equal arms but no crossbars. The whole Jerusalem cross is curved to follow the circle of the ring.
To either side of the cross is a small decorative band of six tiny balls raised in relief against a dark background that helps to visually set the cross off from the band. A polished finish is the cross's only other enhancement.
