Five long wooden twigs hang on black cord from the five points of a black metal pentagram that is suspended horizontally. Their tops have been drilled to accept much smaller twigs around which fine wire has been wrapped to act as 'handles' for the cords. The bottoms of the twigs are stripped bare and wrapped with thicker wire. A round drum-shaped piece of driftwood that hangs on a braided black cord in the middle of the twigs is the 'clapper' that gives the windchime its clicking sound. A strip of bark catches the wind and sets the clapper in motion. The hanger at the top is also a piece of wire twisted into a circle.
If hanging this windchime outdoors, find a spot that won't be exposed directly to the elements, such as under an eave.
Every time we make a new one of these bells, it's slightly different than the one we made before it.
Our bells, windchimes, sun-catchers and wall hangings are handmade in our studio in Garden Grove, California. They are created from a variety of natural materials and readymade celestial charms and talismans associated with protection, luck, and spiritual benefits. We blend these elements together in a way that is organic and entirely human. We hope you enjoy them and all their imperfections, which we think gives them a casual and rustic character.
We make these bells without a specific use in mind; they're made to be used as you see fit - hung on doors or next to windows for protection, to clear negative energies around your altar, or as a useful tool in your witchcraft.
