This pendant is inspired by Old Norse drinking horns and is handsomely decorated – on both sides. It's got a bold Celtic knot pattern that sits on top of a darkened background with a hammered.finish, and a contrasting geometric pattern framing the brim or drinking edge.

Details are set off by an oxidized finish, and the pendant's slightly rounded shape is a nod to the original horns and gives it depth.

Archeologists have dated drinking horns to have been used all the way back to 600bc and they remained in use through the Middle Ages. They were traditionally made from the horns of various bovid like antelopes, oxen, sheep and goats, and the Vikings most probably used the horns of their own domestic cattle. Drinking horns were also fashioned from metals and clay to resemble the natural ones. And some natural ones were fitted with silver or other material - like in this pendant - for a more comfortable drinking brim.

Based on the horns used, it's estimated that drinking horns held less than half a liter, but in the Prose Edda (an Old Norse epic piece of literature), Thor drank from a horn large enough to contain all the seas.
