Here is Anubis, one of the most recognized gods of ancient Egyptian.
For a number of reasons, Anubis was important to the Egyptian 'underworld', the land of the dead.
For one, he assisted in the mummification of the deceased. Then he presided over the weighing of the deceased's heart against a feather, the process that would determine whether or not the individual was worthy enough to enter the underworld.
If so, Anubis would usher them safely into the underworld, and afterwards, with his fierce jackal's head, he was also the protector of the necropolis against looters and pillagers.
Here his staff is topped with the ankh, another important Egyptian symbol, which is repeated on the pendant's hanger.
This Anubis pendant is very three-dimensional with realistic detailing that is enhanced with a slight antique effect.
