Say the word 'shamrock' and most people automatically think of Ireland and St. Patrick's Day.
One reason for that is because, according to Irish lore, St. Patrick used the shamrock as a way to illustrate the concept of the Holy Trinity when he worked to convert Ireland to Christianity in the 5th century. And looking at this pendant with its blooming cruciform shape it's easy to see why.
Another reason is that shamrocks reportedly will grow only in Ireland, so representing the three leaves as heart-shaped Celtic knots not only makes sense culturally, it's also a pretty embellishment jewelry-wise.
