This is a rendition of Mjolnir, which in Norse Legend was Thor's hammer. The name Thor originates in an ancient word that means 'thunder' and the old Norse word 'Mjolnir' meant 'lighting'.
Because Mjolnir had mighty power as a weapon, Thor used it to guard Asgard, the celestial home of most of the other Norse gods.
But just as important Thor used Mjolnir to bless births, marriages, funerals, cremations, and other ceremonies, and to ward off evil spirits. Thor's blessing with Mjolnir took that person or object out of this earthly chaos and gave it a place in the cosmos.
This necklace reflects the power of Mjolnir and Thor. It is large, powerfully proportioned and handsomely detailed with scrolls, studs, and a border of Celtic knots. The hammer itself is very three dimensional, not flat, and with an antiqued finish helps give it an Old World character.
Comes with an antiqued rope chain that enhances the character of the pendant.
