A pentagram, or five-point star, is said to have powers that emanate from various associations with the number 5 as a natural, sacred number. The number 5 can be found throughout nature - think of five fingers and toes, five-petaled flowers or the five arms of a starfish.
Pentagrams are endless in that they can be drawn without lifting pen off paper, and like a Celtic knot with no beginning and no end, they are a symbol of infinity.
When a pentagram is enclosed by a circle as it is here it is usually regarded as a 'pentacle'. The circle is not only a many-layered symbol of Earth, it also represents the cyclic nature of life and harmony. The circle also serves to protect the pentagram and all its powers.
Three small and simple pentacles give this ankle bracelet a slightly primitive almost occultish look. They're made of sterling silver with a simple polished finish.
