These pendants began as watery-clear pieces of raw aquamarine crystal that were fitted with a hand-sculpted bezel made of polymer clay. I imprinted the clay with a mix of natural and mystical symbols, including leaves, spirals, moons, and the alchemical symbol for water. The bail has an irregular, freeform look, with ridges inspired by the textures on a seahorse.
They are then electroformed with pure copper for 40-50 hours, creating a substantial layer of copper with unique textures over the surface of both the clay and crystal. Because the aquamarine is raw and each bezel is sculpted by hand, no two pendants are exactly alike. They are then oxidized and polished by hand to bring out the textures.
About the aquamarine & symbols
Aquamarine has long been associated with the sea, calm waters, clarity, and safe travels. Its soft blue color makes it an especially natural stone for symbols connected with water, the moon, and the flow of life. Whether you think of crystals as having particular energies or simply enjoy their natural beauty and symbolism, aquamarine has an unmistakably peaceful, watery character.
The symbols on these pendants were chosen to complement that feeling. The moon is traditionally associated with cycles, intuition, and the changing tides, while the water symbol represents flow, adaptability, and the element of water itself. The leaves and spirals add a more organic touch, suggesting growth, movement, and the patterns found throughout nature.
The larger pendants (size D) also include three Elder Futhark runes: Laguz, associated with water, intuition, and the natural flow of things; Algiz, traditionally associated with protection and guardianship; and Ansuz, associated with communication, wisdom, and inspiration.
You don't need to follow any particular spiritual tradition to wear these symbols. They can simply be appreciated as ancient and evocative imagery—or used as personal reminders of qualities that resonate with you.
They can be worn as beautiful statement pieces, or used as personal talismans, meditation companions, or reminders to stay connected to your own path and inner balance.
