These pendants begin as small, pale lavender Veracruz amethyst crystals that are fitted with a hand-sculpted, textured polymer clay cap. They are then electroformed for about 36-40 hours, creating a substantial layer of copper over both the cap and crystal.
Each pendant is unique, as no two crystals are exactly the same. The copper is oxidized and polished by hand to bring out the textures.
Veracruz amethyst is one of those stones that really catches my eye when I’m working with it. Mined in Veracruz, Mexico, it tends to be a much lighter, softer lavender-purple than the deep purple amethyst you often see, and the crystals can have a beautiful clarity and delicate, almost wispy look. Amethyst has long been associated with peace, intuition, protection, and spiritual awareness, and Veracruz amethyst is especially lovely for meditation or simply keeping nearby as a calming stone. To me, its pale color and natural crystal formations are what make it so different from ordinary amethyst.
