The pendant begins with a hand-carved wax model which is cast in sterling silver through a process called 'lost wax casting', and then polished by hand and with small tools.
As one advances through the world of Wicca, from darkness or unknowing to spiritual light, progress is marked by general 'degrees'. There are a total of four degrees, so the 'Third Degree' refers to a more advanced stage of Wicca, achieved only after years of conscientious study and practice.
Wiccans who have achieved the Third Degree are adequately knowledgeable and experienced to become leaders, capable of standing in for their high priestess when necessary, and can answer the questions of novices, lead classes without supervision, and possibly even form their own coven.
