Horus was the sky god and one of the most powerful deities of ancient Egypt. He was worshiped for three thousand years and is often seen in Egyptian artwork, usually depicted as either a falcon or as a man with a falcon's head.

As sky god, he embodied both Sun and Moon; the sun was his right eye and the moon his left. The daily movements of the sun and moon across the sky were attributed to Horus' flying from horizon to horizon.

The Eye of Horus symbol refers to his right eye - the sun. And of course, by association it also includes the Egyptian sun god Ra.

The Eye of Horus is usually decorated with markings that are similar to those found around a falcon's eye.

The Eye of Horus is a powerful symbol and can be used to invoke the protection of both Horus and Ra. It also represents royal power and can bring good health.
