Moonstones are well-known for having a luminescent, almost ethereal quality, and those qualities are enhanced in this pendant by a very complementary sterling silver setting.
The setting's slender teardrop shape evolves naturally from a woven Celtic knot pattern that gracefully cascades downward to meet the gemstone. The sterling silver is bright and polished and doesn't distract from the stone's delicate opalescence, and the knot pattern is cut-out for a light touch that is consistent with the moonstone's character.
Like most cabochons, this one has a nice dome shape which gives it an orb-like fullness.
The moonstone is bezel-set (see the photo of the back side), which is a technique jewelry makers have to maximize the light that can enter the stone, to animate it.
