A tree's elaborate system of roots and branches is the inspiration for this large lacy circular medallion.
Above, the crown is a myriad of intertwining curlicues and buds, and fills most of the circle. Below, the roots are just hinted at, like the tip of an iceberg.
The two merge in the trunk, which is accented with primitively rendered lines of bark extending up from the roots. The same primitive effect is there in the circular border too, which is not perfectly round or perfectly flat.
Finished with a pure silver plating that gives this pendant a noticeably whiter look that really picks up the light, especially among all the twists and turns of the curlicue branches.
