These little pendants started with raw amethyst crystals from Dodoma, Tanzania — a gorgeous, deep purple color, with natural points, the kind of crystal that looks like it came straight out of the earth.
Each crystal is custom-fitted with a polymer clay cap, twisted bail, and with a moonstone set in a spiral bezel. It is then electroformed with copper directly onto it, letting the metal grow up around the stone organically. That means every single one of these is unique. The copper follows the shape of the crystal and the cap, builds up in its own way, and ends up with this beautiful rough texture.
The soft blue flash of the moonstone against the warm copper and deep purple amethyst makes for a nice contrast. The back has a moon stamped into it. The pendant was oxidized and then hand-polished to bring out the details.
Why these three materials together?
Amethyst has been used for centuries as a stone of calm and clarity — it's associated with intuition, protection, and quiet focus. Moonstone carries a similar energy: reflective, cyclical, connected to inner knowing. And copper? It's a conductor that has been used in healing and spiritual traditions for thousands of years, and it's thought to amplify the energy of whatever it's paired with.
