A light purple, raw amethyst crystal is nestled in an elegant setting carefully composed of copper wire to complement its unique shape and features. The front face of the pendant features a series of graceful curves and curls like ringlets encircling the stone. The copper wire, three strands wide, then swoops up to form the pendant's bail. On the opposite side the wire wrapping is both freeform and more functional - to secure the stone within its setting.
About Amethyst: Amethyst is a semiprecious gemstone that comes in varying shades of violet, from lavender to vibrant dark purple. The word Amethyst comes from the Greek word améthystos, meaning "not intoxicated". Ancient Greeks thought it was useful against overindulgence and both wore it as jewelry and carved drinking vessels from it. About Copper: Please note that copper wire naturally darkens over time although with care and cleaning it can be kept bright and shiny. Also, when worn directly against skin, copper can react with your sweat to form a green layer of copper carbonate. This chemical reaction is not harmful, but if it bothers you, we recommend only wearing the pendant on top of clothing.
