The celestite has been polished to give it a somewhat shiny, rounded, and smooth finish, but may still have some minor notches and variations because it is created from a natural crystal. The smoothness of the stone is what makes wire-wrapping a challenge - each one requires more wire, making for a more creative and elaborate wrapping to keep the stone secure.
Each of our wire-wrapped stones is thoughtfully done so as to complement its unique shape and features. No two stones are exactly alike. Because these stones, being a natural product, vary in color and clarity, I have always been careful to choose the prettiest side for the front.
Celestite is translucent mineral in a light sky blue color, hence its name, which is derived from a Latin word meaning "celestial". Interestingly, it has another relationship to the sky - fireworks. It is the main source of the element strontium, used to make red-colored fireworks.

I cannot say enough good things about my experience with woot&hammy! I found this beautiful pendant because I was looking for a necklace to honor the baby I recently lost to miscarriage.
